  In this one or two day hands-on workshop, students will explore a variety of AMACO underglazes and underglazing techniques. Participants are encouraged to register for both sessions, though single session registration is allowed. Some tools and brushes will be provided, but students should bring any favorite glazing brushes that they have. Tuesday, August 14, 2018 / 6:00-9:00pm Liquid Underglazes and their Versatility Visual presentation illustrating different uses and techniques for decorating with AMACO Velvet underglazes. Various artists’ work and their underglaze application methods will be shown as examples. Hands-on workshop portion will focus on using “low-tech” image transfer processes for which participants will create their own designs. Bring at least two (2) bisque pieces with smooth surfaces to decorate; 6x6 tiles will be provided. Wednesday, August 15, 2018 / 9:00am-12:00pm Alternative Underglazes and Majolica Techniques Visual presentation showing the AMACO Semi-moist, Chalk and Pencil underglazes and their various uses. Hands-on exploration with these different types of underglazes which are used for drawing and watercolor-like painting. The Semi-Moist and Velvet underglazes will also be used for “in-glaze” Majolica decorating at mid-range.
