The Cape Cod Cloth does not remove layers of metal as I have seen stated in many blog postings; it is a nonabrasive petroleum distillate based metal polish. The pink applicator cloths in the pouch are saturated with the polish and they are not abrasive either, they are simply an applicator used to apply the polish.
