Naturally caffeine-free, Forbidden Hibiscus is made of organically grown, dried hibiscus flower petals grown along the Nile River in southern Egypt. It has a sweet aroma and seductively tart taste of cranberries. Hibiscus tea has been consumed in Egypt for thousands of years, though in ancient Egypt, hibiscus flowers were associated with passion, desire and lust. Egyptians believed tea made with red hibiscus petals could induce licentious cravings in women. As a result, Egyptian women were forbidden to drink hibiscus tea for many centuries. Hence the name. But those days are long past, and everyone can enjoy this delicious drink — hot or cold!

About Our Egyptian Flower Tisanes

Our hand-plucked Egyptian chamomile and hibiscus come from organic gardens along the Nile River Valley in southern Egypt. Egypt has faced conflict often in the post-World War II era, from foreign entanglements in Yemen and with Israel, to domestic strife stemming from the 2011 revolution. Today Egypt has a rapidly diversifying economy, of which agriculture is a main component.
