Like all Icelandic yarn, this virgin wool is sheared from a pure breed of sheep that roam freely in the Icelandic highlands and have been kept separate for hundreds of centuries. The inner fiber is fine, soft, and warm while the outer fiber of the wool is longer and naturally water-repellent.
Our virgin wool is 100% pure, and it has not been blended with any other fibers. This lettopi yarn is made in Iceland by Istex – the top producer of Icelandic knitting yarn since 1896. We care deeply about preserving the history and heritage of Icelandic knitting and sheep farming. In addition to being OEKO-TEX certified, Istex is also 80% owned by Icelandic farmers.
