New research takes another look at the DNA of the famous glacier mummy to paint a better picture of the ancient hunter.
New research takes another look at the DNA of the famous glacier mummy to paint a better picture of the ancient hunter. Oetzi the Iceman died more than 5,000 years ago in the Italian Alps. His body was found frozen in ice in 1991 and is now in a museum in Italy. The scientists determined that the iceman was mostly descended from farmers from present day Turkey. His head was balder and skin darker than what was initially thought. An earlier draft of his genome was published a decade ago. The new version published Wednesday uses more advanced ancient DNA technology.
