This is a watercolor block made of Canson coldpress watercolor paper. Watercolor blocks hold the paper and won't let it warp while the paint dries and the excess water evaporates. This is especially useful when painting washes, or just using a lot of water in general. Having a flat piece of artwork when finished makes it easier to photograph, scan, and display; and looks more professional if you're going to give it away or sell it. Each block will have a corner/space that isn’t glued, and this is where you can separate the sheets.
