The American Smoking Pipe Co. was a collaborative effort between Mark Tinsky and Curt Rollar, born out of a bicycle trip the two ventured on across the European continent. On their return to the states, the first ASPC pipes went to market in 1979. Each pipe was made by either Mark or Curt, distinguished by the carvers' initials. This particular piece was fashioned by Tinsky and is certainly one of the more compact pieces I've come across from the carver. It's a unique take on the bent Pot, displaying a petite, forward canted bowl up front and a high kicking stem out back. Dressed in a warm walnut stain, streaks of straight grain cover the bowl, emanating from the flattened base and traveling up to the plateau crowned rim. Whether you tuck it in your pocket or have it proudly sitting on your desk, this is one versatile pipe.- Jeffery Sitts
