Reach Truck vs. Order Picker October 7, 2019Recently, I had a customer ask me what the difference is between an order picker and reach truck. It's a good question, especially if you unfamiliar with the different types of forklifts available. In short, the biggest difference between an order picker and a reach truck is this: In an order picker, the operator goes up in the air with a load and manually "picks" an order from a rack. With a reach truck, the operator stays in the cab of the machine at ground level and moves the load up mechanically. The Order PickerAn order picker is designed to take the forklift operator up to the rack with or without a load. The order picker operator stands on a platform and moves up with the mast, unlike most lift trucks. This piece of equipment can access heights of anywhere between 9 feet and 35 feet.
