For the sewing enthusiast, Singer Sewing Machine Company presents this factory sealed 1960s vintage Singer sewing machine oil tin, adorned with the old treadle sewing machine logo and the red "S." This can, which contains 4 fluid ounces of lubricant, was vital to the sewing room. I have fond memories of sewing with my grandmother using one of those foot-powered Singers. The can was manufactured in the 1960s. The silhouette of the black Singer machine is synonymous with sewing the world over. As displayed on the tin, the machine was mounted on a wooden stand. Early models were built so that the machine itself folded down into the stand, which was then closed leaving a smooth work table for cutting or hand sewing. The treadle sewing machine has a long history. Dating back almost to the beginning of the technology and the history of the sewing machine itself. A treadle sewing machine was powered mechanically by a foot pedal that was pushed back and forth by the operator's foot. Invented by Isaac Singer, the sewing machine was first treadle powered, then belt powered, hand powered and eventually electric powered. Singer became the foremost sewing machine company in the world. Today, Singer is out of the sewing machine business entirely, having sold its sewing machine business to Germany's Pfaff Sewing Machine Company. Sewing machines currently carrying the Singer name are branded models built in Asia for the Pfaff Company. Our Singer oil can is factory sealed. Full, it still has the pin in the top. The tin is ready for use, or great for display. The canister, which measures 5" tall by 2.25" in diameter sold for 30 cents retail. In excellent condition, the tin has beginning patina near the price (photo #1), on the rims, and slight patina on the bottom (photo #10). Singer collectors or those of us with warm childhood moments will be delighted to add this 1960s Singer oil can to their memorabilia.

The oil is non-gumming oil that prevents rusting and oxidation. This oil also withstands high temperatures. Extend the life of your machine by keeping
