Even before the backyard bunker (AKA fallout shelter) became a somewhat ordinary fixture of American Cold War life, various companies have been making and selling canned water. Most of these steel cans were labeled with a 30 year shelf life, and I’m sure there are still a few shelters with cases of these rusting antiques on the shelves. It was the best option at the time, but the canning method they used is definitely outdated now.
